ABOUT US

Hello!

Ripple Clothing Company has one ultimate goal in mind ... to sell as much second hand t-shirts as possible. Textile waste is a huge global issue. You don't take my word for it, just google it to find out more. We can make a real big difference by simply trying to buy most of our clothing second hand. Things have changed massively regarding any stigma related to used clothing. People are starting to understand the planetary issues related to excessive clothing waste and are better appreciating used clothing, and packing their wardrobes with vintage items they value. Dirt, tears, distressing, fades, cracking, etc are all signs of character in today's world.

Garments are made and intended to last longer than one fashion season. Think about it as if you were looking at a patinated 1972 Chevy C10 Pickup truck. A Classic, American built truck that has stood the test of time and still stands strong. We appreciate that patina as a characteristic that comes with something that is built to last and maintain personal value. The same thing can be said for a nicely worn in 2021 Harley Davidson Daytona Beach Bike Week tee, a vintage 1995 Grateful Dead Summer Tour t-shirt, or any other item found in our store. The current goal of Ripple Clothing Company is to help the progression of transforming people's mindsets on the value second hand clothing, from just used to currently fashionable. We want to elevate second hand clothing to its proper status in modern times.

Why buy used?

The first and possibly most important topic is regarding why you might want to buy second hand clothing. We each have our own personal reasons as to why we might prefer to buy used, and here are just a few.

  1. A quick google search will bring up the countless ethical and environmental problems with fast fashion. Buying pre-owned clothing/ vintage clothing takes clothes out of harmful cycle of fast fashion and constant new clothing purchases.
  2. A bias opinion, but we just like vintage clothing designs more. Anyone can walk into the mall and pick out the same graphic shirt, but how many people have that 1995 Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion Tour tee? To us used offerings creates a wider array of items to choose from and allows us to better show our individual style.
  3. You may find someone with the same garment as you but the likelihood theirs’s has the same backstory and lifecycle as yours is 0%. Every preowned garment has gone through a whole life cycle with the previous owner and often has a completely unique fade or wash that can only be replicated through use and wear. This is honestly our favorite part of owning used t shirts.

Interesting tips.

  1. You can't always trust a size tag. Most tees are made of cotton which shrinks over time almost always. To combat this, go grab a tape measure and a shirt you love the fit of. Measure the pit to pit and length of said shirt in inches, (look at picture below for guidance on how to take these measurements). Now you have a perfect guide of how what shirts on our site will fit you well (as we have measurements of each shirt for sale in the description section of each item).

  1. If you buy happen to buy that perfect shirt and it ends up being on the snug size, don't panic. Just follow THIS pretty cool guide our friend at @closet_necessities on TikTok made. It really works!
